Millions of Reasons to Recycle Paper

Did you know?

One tree makes only four boxes of white photocopy paper – that’s 20 reams of paper.

If you recycle that paper, for each ton recycled, 24 trees don’t need to be cut down.

So how much paper do we use in Australia?

According to Planet Ark, Australia uses approximately 2.4 million tons of paper each year.

If that’s right, that’s 57.6 million trees each year just being used as paper.

That’s a scary number, in a world where trees are recognized as being literally the lungs of the world.

Just think for a moment.

If we only manage to recycle 10% of the paper we use, we could save 5.7 million trees each year.

While those numbers seem a bit frightening, the truth is that we do recycle a percentage of that paper each year. And we are getting better at it.
